Safe Space Discussion

The Safe Space Discussion group is no longer a program of the LGBT Equity Center. We refer you to the Counseling Center's LGBTQIA Support Group and Rainbow Walk-In Hour.

LGBTQIA Support

A supportive discussion group for students to discuss lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer, questioning, and asexual issues. Individuals representing the diverse gender and sexual orientation continuum are invited to participate in co-creating a brave space to discuss identity, coming out, transitioning, relationships, struggles, and victories; a space to decompress, share what's on your mind, and find support.

Tuesdays, 6:30 to 8 p.m. (Contact Dr. Carlton Green cegreen@umd.edu)

Rainbow Walk-In Hour

While classes are in session, LGBTQ students have access to free unscheduled time with a counselor during the Rainbow Walk-In Hour, Monday through Friday from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Students must state that they are there for the Rainbow Walk-In Hour and they will be asked to complete several brief surveys prior to meeting with a counselor within an hour of arrival.
