Pride Awards

Pride & Advocacy Award (2017-present)

The Pride & Advocacy Award has its roots in Pride Awards the Advocate for Equity Award, and the Trans* Advocacy Award. Moving forward, this award recognizes anyone (student, staff, administrator, faculty, alumnx, or perhaps someone without an official tie to the University of Maryland) who has demonstrated exceptional leadership during the past year resulting in a positive impact on campus LGBTQ+ communities. This is a flexible occasional award that may or may not be given in any particular year, or may have more than one awardee in a single year if there is a compelling reason.

Pride Award (1999-2005)

In 1999 the LGBTSFA decided that from time to time individuals deserved recognition for their contributions and commitment to the LGBT community which might not fit within the parameters of other established awards. Pride Awards were established to fit this need. They are intended as flexible, occasional awards to recognize meritorious contributions to the LGBT campus community. They have been administered by the LGBT Equity Center since their inception.
